There are various ways on how to increase web traffic to websites.  The most important issue is the foundational basics that work in luring internet traffic to your site.  It is very important to perform the right measures and the following will help anyone interested in this task.

A.    Concentrate on creating web-links to your company website:

You want to utilize keywords while placing anchor texts in them.  A great way to perform this task is to write quality content articles while placing them on other sites.  Article directories are ideal places to place your quality articles.  Include a “bio-box” or resource box at the end of each article that includes your URL.  This will compel readers to visit your site.

B.     Perform keyword research and phrases:

A great technique in creating keywords for your site is to perform what is commonly called “brainstorming”.  Determine what keywords relate to your products and services and write them down on a piece of paper.  Place each individual keyword and or phrase into the search engine and view the popularity of these words.  WordTracker is a wonderful tool to aid with this task as well as Yahoo Overture Keyword Selector Tool and the Google Keyword Tool.  These tools will aid in searching the activity with the phrasing and keyword list on the internet.

Some people will speak against meta-tags however; meta-tags still contain value.  Meta-tags are the same as “ads”.  Search engines use them in displaying additional text as part of organic listings.  It is very important to create these tags with keywords in them.

C.    Add interactive devices on your website that will help internet users:

The interactive devices are in abundance on the internet and the one you place on the site should be in accordance with your products and services.  The device you choose should make people want to use it repeatedly.  In other words, it should prove helpful to anyone who visits your website.  Your goal should be to build credibility with clients and potential customers.

D.    Write blogs and participate in other blogs

Some people misconstrue this advice.  Participating in conversations with other blogs entails becoming involved and adding a great perspective for others to review and enjoy.  You do not want to merely leave a comment with a link to your website.  This is actually a fast way to be banned from responding to blogs.  You want to be recognized as a contributing member to blogs and eventually, your commenting will result in the blog writers referring back to you.  The value of blogging on a consistent basis is priceless, due to adding your expertise and branding your products and services.  Commenting on blogs also allows readers to realize you are human and you have a lot of great insight to offer them.

Performing this task will help with search engines indexing your website more often.  If you own a small business site, do not fret if Google does not index your website right away.  Google purposely does not perform this in a fast fashion because they want to ensure that the site is legitimate and not a spam site.  This practice is labeled the “Google Sandbox”.  You can get around this “sandbox” by obtaining “authority links” coming back to your site.

E.     Do not bother with newsletters:

This practice has proved to be a waste of time, especially with firewall settings and spam filters.  It proves more successful to write blogs in comparison to newsletter-type emails.  It is highly suggested that you construct blogs with newsletter-type information in it and have people subscribe to your blogs via RSS Feeds.

Do not bother with newsletter websites that promise your newsletters are delivered.  These websites do not measure their success in the right fashion.  No matter how much they promise you success in delivery of your newsletters, they are not taking into account that the majority of firewalls will not produce a “bounce-back”.  This means that even if your newsletter was not delivered, it will still appear as if it went through.

F.     Concentrate on how long people stay in comparison to how many visit the website:

You will need to focus on the areas that can encourage internet users to hang out on your website.  “Google Analytics” can help with this task and the best thing is that it is free.

As you can see how to increase web traffic is not a difficult task however, it does require dedication and time.  Following these tips and suggestions can help you in not only increasing web traffic to your site but can improve your overhead and most importantly, your company reputation.
